U.S. authorities have recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. The firearm—a high-powered bolt-action rifle—was found in a wooded area near the campus, according to FBI officials.

Kirk, 31, was struck by a single long-range shot while addressing a crowd of approximately 3,000 attendees. Investigators believe the shooter fired from a rooftop roughly 200 yards away, suggesting a calculated and premeditated attack.

The suspect remains at large. Described as male and “of college age,” he reportedly blended in with the university environment and fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Authorities have obtained images of the suspect and are analyzing physical evidence, including footprints and other imprints.

Federal and state agencies have launched an intensive manhunt, with officials urging the public and media to assist in identifying the perpetrator. No motive has been confirmed, though the incident has been widely condemned across the political spectrum as an act of political violence.
