10 November 2021 – Katharina von Schnurbein, presented the work of the European Commission to tackle discrimination and antisemitism in sports and refered to the newly adopted EU strategy on combating antisemiitsm and fostering Jewish life at the conference ‘Global Conference on Football’s Role in Combatting Antisemitism’.
The conference ‘Global Conference on Football’s Role in Combatting’ hosted by the Chelsea FC Foundation in partnership with The Office of Lord Mann, the ICCA and the Jewish Community of Vienna – IKG, brought together experts and leaders from the world of sports and policy to discuss the prevalence of antisemitism in football, as well as the role football can play in combating antisemitism in the game and wider society.
Katharina von Schnurbein also met with Borussia Dortmund Football club representatives and discussed ways to cooperate in the fight against antisemitism in football. Daniel Lörcher, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Borussia Dortmund, presented the results of the project “Changing the Chants”. Changing the Chants is a two-year project, supported by the European Union’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme. It consists of an innovative and international cooperation between Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord Rotterdam, Fare Network and the Anne Frank House.
