Estonia to Supply Ukraine with $107 Million in Military Aid

World

Tallinn, March 21 – Estonia has committed to providing $107 million in military aid to Ukraine, according to a statement from the Estonian Ministry of Defense. This new aid package includes the urgent purchase of weapons and supplies from Estonian defense companies, fulfilling Ukraine’s official request for specific military equipment. The list of needs includes air and ground drones, water transport, medical supplies, and various other consumables.

While details about the timeline for delivery are still pending, the Estonian government’s move follows a continued commitment to support Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict with Russia. In addition to the immediate aid, Estonia has previously pledged to increase its military support to Ukraine, with a planned 25% boost in military aid in 2025. As of March, Estonia is also sending 10,000 artillery shells to Ukraine.

This support aligns with a broader defense agreement signed between Ukraine and Estonia in June 2024, which ensures continued assistance over the next decade. Under this agreement, Estonia will contribute military aid equivalent to 0.25% of its GDP annually from 2024 to 2027, focusing on training the Ukrainian military and supporting an IT coalition led by Estonia.

Estonian officials, including Foreign Ministry representatives, have underscored the importance of maintaining robust defense aid to Ukraine as the conflict continues, with a special emphasis on countering Russian misinformation and propaganda. The commitment is a clear signal of Estonia’s strong position in supporting Ukraine’s defense efforts and ensuring long-term security cooperation.

Note: Estonia has also launched a campaign to combat Russian disinformation and urges international support for independent journalism in the region.
