The Steelers and Ravens have always loved taking shots at one another. So, former Steeler and ESPN analyst Ryan Clark couldn’t help but share his feelings about Baltimore’s current roster.
“The trash that this offense is without Lamar Jackson is crazy,” Clark said on “Get Up.” “Lamar Jackson has elevated the play of people like no one else can.”
Jackson is set to miss his third straight game in Week 16 as the Ravens host the Falcons (5-9). Since 2018, the Ravens are 45-16 and average 28 points per game with Jackson. They are 7-11, averaging 20.7 points per game without him.
Clark, who played eight seasons with Pittsburgh, believes there are two reasons the Ravens have been getting exposed as of late in Jackson’s absence.
“It could be that Lamar Jackson is that good, which I think is part of it,” Clark added. “But also, you have to build an offense around Lamar Jackson that I don’t think many other people in the world can function in and actually make work.”
The 25-year-old quarterback bet on himself in what is a contract year for him, and it seems that it may just work out for him.
Jackson has over 3,000 total yards, 20 touchdowns, and 11 turnovers this season, per ESPN.com.
He was hoping that his play in 2022 would help his case in contract discussions, but it may be his absence that proves to be the biggest factor instead.
