LOS ANGELES — Move over, Hollywood power couples — there’s a new royal union in town, and this one comes with two legendary last names! Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are officially family, thanks to their children Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence, who have tied the knot in a private, intimate ceremony.
In a surprise reveal on The Jennifer Hudson Show this week, comedy icon Eddie Murphy shared the big news that his son Eric and Martin’s daughter Jasmin were married just two weeks ago — skipping the Hollywood fanfare for a romantic elopement.
“They went off… Everybody was making the big wedding plans, and they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them,” Murphy told Hudson. “They just had the two of them and the preacher. So I think we’ll have like a big party or something.”
The couple, who have been dating since 2021, announced their engagement in November 2024. Fans had been eagerly anticipating a grand wedding befitting the comedic dynasties — but the newlyweds chose love over spectacle, opting for something deeply personal.
Meanwhile, Bad Boys star Martin Lawrence previously joked on iHeartRadio’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood that Murphy told him it was his turn to foot the bill, referencing Eddie’s history of paying for his daughters’ lavish weddings.
“He said it’s my turn now,” Lawrence laughed. Looks like the newlyweds beat them both to the altar on their own terms!
As for entertainment at the eventual party? Murphy teased a potential father-of-the-groom duet with Lawrence.
“They didn’t have a wedding, but maybe we’ll have a big party. I might sing… or maybe Martin and I will do a duet,” Murphy joked. (Now that would break the internet.)
🎉 Congratulations to Eric and Jasmin Murphy! 🎉
Two hearts. Two families. One legendary love story.
From childhoods spent in comedy royalty’s spotlight to creating a love story all their own — Eric and Jasmin are writing their own chapter. Here’s to a lifetime of laughter, love, and unforgettable family reunions. 💍❤️
And if the wedding was quiet, we cannot wait to see what the celebration looks like.
