In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, more than 230 Entergy employees, alongside community partners, mobilized across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas to package over 250,000 meals for families facing food insecurity. This year marked the latest chapter in Entergy’s two-decade commitment to combat hunger through volunteerism.

The company collaborated with partners such as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and Healthy Blue Louisiana to organize 10 meal-packaging events throughout its service area. This initiative is part of Entergy’s ongoing efforts to address the alarming reality of food insecurity in the U.S., where over 47 million people, including 1 in 5 children, struggle with hunger, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Patty Riddlebarger, Entergy’s Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility, stated, “Entergy is proud to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King by joining with partners to help end hunger across our service area.” She emphasized that for over 20 years, the company’s corporate focus has been poverty alleviation, a cause that resonates deeply as many families continue to face difficulties in securing nutritious meals.

The MLK Day of Service is an integral part of Entergy’s mission to give back to communities through volunteer efforts and philanthropic initiatives. By supporting local food banks and food distribution networks, the company helps tackle social challenges like hunger while embodying King’s principles of equality, service, and empowerment.

Entergy’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond this event, as the company continues to invest in both the resilience of the energy grid and the well-being of the communities it serves.

With a longstanding legacy of corporate social responsibility, Entergy has invested more than $100 million annually since 2018 in local communities through volunteerism, advocacy, and philanthropy, solidifying its reputation as a leader in both sustainability and corporate citizenship.
