Egypt, Azerbaijan Discuss Cooperation in Human Rights Promotion

Egyptian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hisham Mohamed Nagy Abdel Hamid met with Azerbaijani Ombudsman for Human Rights Sabina Aliyeva.

During the meeting, Aliyeva underlined that relations between the two countries have been formed and expanded throughout this time, noting that this year marked the 30th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt.

The ombudsperson emphasised acts of damage against the nation’s cultural, historical, and religious sites as well as war crimes committed by Armenia against Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War.

She stated that Egypt has consistently backed Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

The need of expanding collaboration between the national human rights institutions of the two nations was emphasised by ambassador Hisham Mohamed Nagy Abdel Hamid.

The parties also discussed the potential for bilateral collaboration between the two nations in the area of human rights promotion and education during the meeting.

The Egyptian ambassador received a postage stamp from Sabina Aliyeva commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan.
