Edera Secures $15M in Series A to Revolutionize Kubernetes and AI Security

Technology

Seattle-based startup Edera has raised $15 million in a Series A funding round to advance its innovative Kubernetes workload isolation technology. The round, led by Microsoft’s M12 Venture Fund, also attracted investments from Mantis VC, In-Q-Tel (IQT), and other venture firms, bringing Edera’s total funding to $20 million.

Founded by Emily Long, a former Chainguard executive, and Alex Zenla, an ex-Googler with deep cybersecurity expertise, Edera aims to enhance security in cloud-native environments. The company’s flagship product, Edera Protect Kubernetes, utilizes a cloud-native Type 1 hypervisor to deliver secure-by-design isolation, preventing container escapes and minimizing lateral movement. This technology promises strong security without sacrificing performance, eliminating reliance on traditional namespace security.

Additionally, Edera is addressing security gaps in AI workloads with its Edera Protect AI product. The tool secures GPU resources, isolating drivers and virtualizing resources to prevent lateral movement, thus mitigating common risks in AI environments.

Edera’s solutions provide a fresh approach to securing workloads in Kubernetes and AI infrastructures, solving challenges that traditional security solutions often overlook, such as performance trade-offs and complex configurations. The company’s technology offers a seamless, scalable solution for any platform, whether on public clouds, private data centers, or on-premises systems.

With these investments, Edera is poised to play a key role in shaping the future of secure, scalable infrastructure.
