DuPont has reached a significant sustainability milestone, announcing that all 13 of its manufacturing sites in the European Union are now powered entirely by renewable grid electricity. This achievement supports the company’s 2030 Sustainability Goals and advances its commitment to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The transition was enabled through a combination of on-site solar energy and the procurement of both bundled and unbundled Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), ensuring that the electricity used across DuPont’s EU operations is matched with renewable generation.
“At DuPont, we are guided by a core value of protecting the planet, aligning our sustainability goals to meet the expectations of our customers, value chain partners, and the communities in which we operate,” said Alexa Dembek, Chief Technology & Sustainability Officer at DuPont. “Converting our European Union manufacturing sites to 100% renewable electricity is a significant step in our journey to further reduce our emissions, lower the carbon footprint of our products, and put us on a clear path toward decarbonization in our operations by 2050.”
This milestone also reinforces DuPont’s role as a climate leader in the global RE100 initiative—a coalition of influential businesses committed to sourcing 100% renewable electricity. DuPont has been a member of RE100 since 2021.
The move underscores DuPont’s broader environmental strategy, which includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its operations and embedding sustainability across its innovation pipeline and supply chain.
By achieving 100% renewable electricity in its EU operations, DuPont continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental stewardship and climate action on a global scale.
