The United States is designating six leaders of Hamas today for their roles in facilitating the transfer of weapons and funds to Gaza, directly supporting the group’s terrorist activities. These actions include smuggling construction materials needed for Hamas to build an extensive and deadly tunnel network, intentionally placed among Palestinian civilians, and overseeing Hamas’ propaganda outlets.
It is important to note that there is no distinction between Hamas’s so-called military wing and its political leadership. The United States remains committed to using all available tools to target those who enable and perpetuate Hamas’s destabilizing actions.
Today’s designation is pursuant to Executive Order 13224, as amended, which targets individuals and entities involved in terrorism. For further details on these actions, please refer to the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s press release.
