The game features four playable characters from the Disney franchise: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. The game is inspired by the Sega Genesis classics Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion, which also starred Mickey and his friends in platforming adventures.

The game is a 2D side-scrolling platformer with a Metroidvania-like game structure, meaning that the player can explore different areas of the island using a map and unlock new abilities that allow access to previously inaccessible places. The game has no direct combat mechanic, but instead relies on avoiding enemy attacks and solving environmental puzzles. The game also has boss fights that require the player to use their platforming skills to defeat them. The game supports local co-op multiplayer for up to four players, who can help each other by restoring lives, dropping ropes, and hugging. The game also has collectibles that reveal concept art, character backstories, and references to previous Mickey cartoons.
