Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard R. Verma is traveling to Beirut, Lebanon; Nicosia, Cyprus; and Adana, Türkiye on July 26-27. Executive Secretary Dereck J. Hogan and Bureau of Consular Affairs Assistant Secretary Rena Bitter will join the Deputy Secretary on his trip.
Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources Richard Verma first visited Lebanon to meet with the team at U.S. Embassy Beirut and discuss their support for U.S. citizens in a complex and quickly changing security environment, as well as to review progress on construction of a new Embassy facility. He also met with Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib while in Beirut.
Today, Deputy Secretary Verma travels to Cyprus to visit key Cypriot logistical facilities and be briefed on ongoing planning to support crisis management in the region. Deputy Secretary Verma’s visit is the next step in a continued, collaborative partnership between the United States and the Republic of Cyprus to enhance security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
In Türkiye, the Deputy Secretary will meet with U.S. military and diplomatic personnel at Incirlik Air Base to review the logistical resources available to support crisis preparedness needs.
