Denver International Airport is continuing to find ways to bring innovative experiences to travellers. As part of these efforts, in mid-2025 it will become the first airport in the world to have a Ferris wheel. The ‘Red Eye’ was named after late-night flights and a blue Mustang’s glowing neon eyes.
The Red Eye will be built at the former toll plaza on Peña Boulevard, which has been unoccupied for more than 20 years. After looking into numerous ways to utilise the space, a plan to install a Ferris wheel was born. Following demolition of the toll plaza, which will occur over the next six months, The Red Eye will take about a year-and-a-half to construct and is anticipated to open in spring of 2025.
Riders will be able to plane spot and view the terminal tent peaks and city lights from the top of the 250ft tall Red Eye. Attendees will also be able to enjoy local food trucks, vendors and music daily. The Red Eye will operate annually from the beginning of May through to the end of November.
