Just a couple of minutes from my childhood home facing the Tel Aviv beach (between the Marina and Jaffa), a new luxury hotel recently opened – the David Kempinski Tel Aviv. Having heard so many wonderful reviews about the hotel, I decided to explore how much has changed from the little Tel Aviv that I grew up in and what makes this new addition to the Tel Aviv skyline so unique.
During my stay I was excited to find out that Imagine Dragons, a world-famous American rock band, shared my taste in luxury during their historic concert in Israel in August.
The David Kempinski is surrounded by unparalleled views of the Mediterranean Sea. Located in the heart of Tel Aviv, this luxurious five-star hotel has 250 rooms and suites with stylish and spacious rooms and an exclusive dining experience.
The hotel also hosts international business conferences and business meetings. While I was there, I was impressed to find out that one of the most prestigious investment banks in the world hosted its Tech Talk there.
Every aspect of the hotel, from its architecture to the interior design, evokes a sense of elegance and comfort. The hotel has 14 signature suites offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. As I entered my room, I was thrilled to find my favorite Molton Brown luxury bath products, which I normally purchase in London, in my room. Located at the center of the beachfront promenade, the hotel offers guests direct access to the beach.
A hotel with an air of unrivaled luxury
The David Kempinski exudes an air of unrivaled luxury by creating a uniquely relaxed atmosphere. The hotel’s exclusive amenities include private spaces such as the Horizon Lounge. I have been to numerous upscale business lounges throughout the world and in Israel but the Horizon Lounge alone on the 22nd floor makes a stay at the hotel worthwhile. The view from the Horizon Lounge is spectacular, especially the mesmerizing sunsets. The Shabbat dinner buffet is lavish and delicious and the atmosphere is ideal for work and relaxation.
The staff (from many countries) is very attentive and makes one feel most welcome, not just because its members speak numerous languages. The dedicated team of professionals provides impeccable service ensuring that each guest feels valued and attended to. When little Meirav – my granddaughter – craved guava juice (of all drinks), it showed up on our table in no time.
The service is personalized and the staff is knowledgeable while catering to one’s unique requests. The hotel has five different restaurants and bars with a focus on kosher cuisine, culinary diversity and locally sourced ingredients. I had no problem finding my gluten free foods. All dishes were truly gourmet. It is home to the innovative fine dining Sereia Restaurant, a Japanese menu at the bar, and casual yet sophisticated dining in the lounge.
The OKOA Spa provides tranquility and rejuvenation. With a wide selection of pampering treatments, state of the art facilities and experienced therapists it is the ultimate in rejuvenation treatments. The spa offers a wide range of holistic treatments I have not even experienced in Barcelona’s upscale spas where I lived for many years. A 25-meter infinity pool spans the sea-facing side of the outdoor terrace.
As we were checking out of the hotel, little Meirav, who has exquisite taste and has stayed with us in Israel’s finest hotels since she was a baby, commented to me we have to come back here very soon. To my mind, this was the ultimate compliment. ■
