NTT Communications Corporation, a key player in global information and communication technology (ICT), has confirmed a significant data breach impacting nearly 18,000 customer organizations. The breach, which was first detected on February 5, was attributed to an unknown threat actor who gained unauthorized access to NTT Com’s internal systems, which host sensitive information on customer services.
Upon discovering suspicious activity on February 5, NTT Com immediately restricted access to the compromised system. However, a follow-up investigation revealed that another system had been breached on February 15, resulting in the exfiltration of data on 17,891 corporate clients. The compromised data includes customer names, contract details, contact information, and service usage data.
NTT Com has assured affected clients that notifications will be sent out, and the company is taking steps to enhance its security measures to prevent further incidents. It’s important to note that only corporate customer data was affected, as the compromised systems did not contain end-user information.
NTT Com, a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, serves a wide range of industries globally, providing cloud, network, and security services.
