WASHINGTON DC– Javon Roach, 20, of Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 228 months (19 years) in federal prison for his role in a series of violent armed carjackings and robberies that targeted 17 victims across the District in March 2023. Roach pleaded guilty in March 2025 to three counts of carjacking and two counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras imposed five years of supervised release.

Violent Crime Spree

According to court records, between March 6 and March 28, 2023, Roach and his co-conspirators committed at least six armed carjackings and five armed robberies, often using firearms—including one with a machine gun conversion device—to threaten, beat, and steal from victims.

Roach was arrested on March 30, 2023, after a high-speed chase through Fairfax County, Virginia. When police attempted to stop the stolen Audi, Roach rammed other vehicles, including a police cruiser, before fleeing on foot. Officers apprehended him nearby and recovered a loaded handgun modified with a machine gun conversion device.

Roach later pleaded guilty in Fairfax County to possession of a machine gun and assault on a police officer.
