Katharina von Schnurbein co-chaired the meeting of the Special Envoys and Coordinators Combating Antisemitism (SECCA), organised by the World Jewish Congress and the European Commission, around the Malmö Forum. Participants discussed the role the special envoys and coordinators play in the fight against antisemitism globally and how to reinforce their cooperation as well as the pledges made in the Malmö Forum.
Katharina von Schnurbein presented the EU Strategy on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life that states: “In addition, the EU will strengthen the global cooperation of special envoys and coordinators on combating antisemitism.”
Particpants further discussed the implementation of the EU Strategy with view to the upcoming Swedish International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance Presidency as well as the French and Czech EU Presidency, to ensure that by 2022 all Member States design and develop national strategies that include their pledges. A comprehensive monitoring of their implementation will also have to be put in place, the special envoys and coordinators combating antisemitism stressed out.
