The Indianapolis Colts are expected to take a quarterback with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Two weeks out from the draft, and it’s still not clear which — if any — of the top four QBs Indy favors, and that’s the way the team prefers it, according to ESPN’s Stephen Holder.
Holder’s comments fall in line with what ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said during a leaguewide conference call on Wednesday.
“(Arizona’s pick being for sale is the) only real intel you have (this close to the draft) because no one is going to tell you what they are doing in the league,” he said, via the Titans’ official website. “There’s nobody in this league telling anybody what they are doing.”
The Colts have been linked to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, but it doesn’t appear they’re willing to part with the draft capital necessary to facilitate a trade and pay Jackson the mega-contract he’s reportedly seeking.
Alabama’s Bryce Young and Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud are expected to be the top two picks in the draft, leaving Indy to decide between Kentucky’s Will Levis and Florida’s Anthony Richardson. Draft experts appear to be split on who they believe the Colts prefer with some arguing the team values Levis’ strong arm over Richardson’s dual-threat ability, and vice versa.
Kiper Jr. has Indianapolis grabbing Levis at No. 4 in his latest mock draft, while ESPN’s Todd McShay has the Colts trading up to the No. 3 pick to grab Richardson in his most recent mock draft.
