It’s been a busy morning in Boston. First, general manager Don Sweeney acquired forward Tyler Bertuzzi from the Detroit Red Wings for a pair of picks, then locked up David Pastrnak on a $90 million extension. With the highs come the lows.
This morning, per CapFriendly , the Bruins announced forward Taylor Hall has been placed on long-term injured reserve. The move gives the Bruins about $6 million in cap flexibility.
Hall was injured sometime during the Bruins’ road trip. He last played against the Vancouver Canucks, logging 13:28 of ice time and picking up an assist in the Bruins’ 3-1 victory. He was day-to-day, and following a report Thursday morning from TSN’s Darren Dreger, Hall was looking for a second opinion regarding his lower-body injury.
The 31-year-old has been a solid contributor to the Bruins this season. He has tallied 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) in 56 games this season. Hall joined the Bruins organization at the 2021 trade deadline when he was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres for Anders Bjork and a second-round pick. Hall and the Bruins agreed on a four-year,$24 million extension worth $6 million average annual value.
A former first-overall pick of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Draft, Hall spent six seasons with the Oilers before being dealt in a massive trade to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Adam Larsson. Hall has spent time with the Coyotes and Sabres as well. The Calgary, Alberta product has registered 693 points (264 goals, 429 assists) in 819 games so far spanning a 13-year NHL career.
Additionally, the Bruins also announced that forward Nick Foligno has been placed on the injured reserve. The Bruins recalled forward Jakub Lauko from their American Hockey League affiliate Providence Bruins.
