A Williamsport man, Tysheem Dunlap, has been convicted of drug distribution resulting in death following a four-day jury trial in Pennsylvania’s Middle District Court. The verdict, delivered on May 2, 2025, found Dunlap guilty of multiple drug-related charges, including two counts of drug delivery resulting in serious bodily injury.

Deadly Drug Deal and Overdose

On August 20, 2022, Dunlap sold what he claimed was cocaine to four Bloomsburg University students, but the substance was fentanyl, a potent opioid that is 50-100 times stronger than morphine. Three of the four individuals overdosed, with one victim dying from fatal fentanyl toxicity. Emergency responders revived two victims, while the fourth person called 911, leading to the investigation.

Forensic Evidence and Trial Outcome

Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of fentanyl in the substance Dunlap sold. Autopsy results showed lethal levels of the drug in the deceased victim’s bloodstream. Expert testimony established that the victim, who was otherwise healthy, would not have died had the substance been cocaine as intended.

The jury found Dunlap guilty of:

  • Drug distribution resulting in death
  • Two counts of drug delivery causing serious bodily injury
  • Two counts of cocaine distribution

Law Enforcement and Sentencing

The case was investigated by the FBI, Bloomsburg Police Department, and Pennsylvania State Police. Dunlap faces a mandatory minimum sentence and could receive a life sentence. His conviction is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a federal initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and drug-related offenses.
