First seen in Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 2023 ready-to-wear runway show at Paris Fashion Week last year, the Voyou bag is being positioned as the brand’s newest statement bag. The new bag has a slouchy, boho silhouette, which contrasts with its edgy look. Buckled strap detailing on the sides and grained calfskin material suggest a biker-inspired vibe, but with a playful twist. As Matthew M. Williams, the brand’s Creative Director said in a recent press release: “I wanted to revisit fashion archetypes with a kind of new language and a playful attitude. With the Voyou, you know at a glance that it’s Parisian, but it’s at home wherever it goes, and it makes an everyday style statement that has true staying power.” A statement that makes even more sense when you consider that ‘Voyou’ is a French slang term that translates to ‘bad boy.’
