Bicycle producer recalls ten models sold in Ireland after discovery of major fault

A dozen bicycle models have been recalled in Ireland after the discovery of a fault which could result in falls. 

According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), the SCOTT brand of bikes (from Scott Sports SA) have been flagged after it was discovered the steering tube in the front fork can break, leading to falls and possible injuries including fractures and bruising. 

The type/number of models are the following;

286438 Speedster 50 (EU)
286442 Speedster 40 (CN)
286443 Speedster 50 (CN)
286472 Speedster Gravel 50 (CN)
286466 Speedster Gravel 50 (EU)
286465 Speedster Gravel 40 EQ (EU)
286437 Speedster 40 (EU)
286466 Speedster Gravel 40 EQ (CN)
286490 Contessa Speedster Gravel 35 (EU)
286493 Contessa Speedster Gravel 35 (CN)
The batch number and the bar code are unknown.

If your bicycle has a green dot under the fork bridge and/or a hole in the steerer tube, your bicycle is not affected. 

There are approximately 15 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. 

Consumers in possession of a recalled SCOTT Speedster 40 & 50 / speedster gravel 40 eq & 50 / Contessa Speedster gravel 35 should immediately stop using the bicycle, and return it to an authorized SCOTT dealer for a free replacement fork.
