The ‘evoBOT’ is an autonomous robot focused on aiding humans with various tasks at work and at home rather than being an outright replacement to mortal workforces. The robot has a seemingly simple construction that moves on two wheels and utilizes a set of arms to grip items before zipping them between locations. The robot is kept relatively lightweight by using the inverse compound pendulum principle without having to use external counterweight.
The ‘evoBOT’ is presently in the prototype phase and has been created by a team at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics. The robot could help to greatly enhance a range of industries like shipping and healthcare, while also showing distinct merit as a potential solution for the home.
