cc-tapis is an Italian producer of modern handmade rugs and it presents an array of new rug collections during Milan Design Week this year. The brand showcased progressive techniques and designs that push the boundaries within the industry. It highlights collaborative efforts alongside names such as Formafantasma, Objects of Common Interest, Bethan Laura Wood, and Patricia Urquiola.
One of the highlights is the Moiré collection done with Objects of Common Interest as it celebrates the natural Moiré patterns that are found on the grains of wood and decomposition. It fuses elements that are traditional and modern all at once and highlights three monochromatic shapes going in different directions. Another is the Telegra collection with personal messages chosen by the rug creators themselves. It’s created with Formafantasma and Simon Farresin and Andrea Trimarchi note that “We wanted to remove the veil between us and the makers. It’s the beginning of a dialogue, instead of merely a finished product.”
