The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), in partnership with the AU Department of Peace, Security, and Political Affairs (DPAPS), has launched a fact-finding mission (FFM) to gather reports on human rights violations in Sudan amid the ongoing conflict. The mission is calling for urgent contributions from individuals and organizations to document abuses, with a deadline set for February 2, 2025.
The Commission is particularly focused on violations related to civil and political rights, including arbitrary arrests, detentions, denial of fair trial rights, and restrictions on freedom of expression and assembly. Additionally, the mission is seeking detailed reports on socio-economic and cultural rights abuses, including denial of access to basic services like healthcare, education, and housing, as well as infringements on cultural practices and traditional livelihoods.
The mission assures that all submissions will be treated confidentially, underscoring its commitment to impartiality and thorough documentation. This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive account of human rights violations, which will inform future actions to address the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
