Aeroporti di Roma – a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub – has inaugurated the ‘Newton Room Rome’ at Fiumicino Airport. The experiential classroom dedicated to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) disciplines is promoted by Boeing Italia and Aeroporti di Roma in collaboration with the Norwegian non-profit organisation FIRST Scandinavia.
In this new space, training in STEM subjects connected to the world of air transport will be offered to students aged between 13 and 16 from middle and high schools in the region.
“The transformations in the world of work and the opportunities offered by new technologies have made education a priority challenge for companies and institutions,” said Marco Troncone, CEO, Aeroporti di Roma. “The opening of the Newton Room at Fiumicino Airport represents for ADR an action that is part of the corporate giving strategy of the Mundys group of which it is part, with particular reference to the right to study and the promotion of training activities in the contexts in which it operates. The Newton Room represents a cutting-edge educational concept aimed at promoting the study of scientific subjects among children in primary and secondary schools. In the Newton Room installed in Terminal 1 Arrivals at Fiumicino Airport, starting from next September, high school students in the Lazio region will have the opportunity to experience an educational module called ‘Up in the air with numbers’ – a lesson that applies mathematical concepts to a flight plan, then tested on a flight simulator by the students themselves.
