Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Global Public Affairs (GPA) Mark Toner will travel to Detroit, Michigan June 6-7, 2024. During his visit, Acting Assistant Secretary Toner will highlight the critical role of public diplomacy in advancing U.S. foreign policy, discuss the goals of the upcoming NATO Washington Summit, and highlight the State Department’s commitment to addressing many of the key national security challenges in the world today.
Acting Assistant Secretary Toner will speak at a fireside chat at the Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement Conference hosted by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). He will also engage with high school students at an event organized by the Metro Detroit Model United Nations. Additionally, he will meet with faculty from local universities and professional fellows on international exchange programs through Global Ties Detroit.
