A devastating crash at Muan International Airport in southwestern South Korea has resulted in the deaths of at least 28 people, authorities confirmed. The Jeju Air flight, which was returning from Thailand, crashed during its attempted landing, with 181 people onboard, including 175 passengers and 6 crew members.

According to local fire department officials, the aircraft veered off the runway as it was attempting to land, causing the plane to crash. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, where they found several victims and transported them to nearby hospitals. The latest reports from the Muan Fire Department indicate that 28 fatalities have been confirmed, with 23 of the deceased found in the tail section of the aircraft.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire that broke out in the wake of a reported malfunction in the plane’s landing gear.
