Multiple tornadoes touched down in southeastern Texas on December 26, 2024, following a day of severe storms that impacted the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center has issued an enhanced risk warning for severe thunderstorms across East Texas, the Lower Mississippi Valley, and the Tennessee Valley for December 27, continuing the threat of extreme weather.

In southeastern Texas, several tornadoes were reported as intense storms moved across the area. Local emergency officials confirmed sightings of at least three tornadoes during the afternoon. One of the tornadoes touched down in Wharton County, near Highway 59, where it caused damage to several barns. Additional damage reports came from Meadows, just beyond the Harris County line, where a brief tornado was observed.

The NWS Houston office also confirmed a waterspout over Lake Houston that moved onto land near Huffman. Shortly after, a separate report indicated another tornado sighting northwest of Dayton. While no major damage has been reported so far, local officials are conducting impact assessments to determine the extent of the destruction.

As severe thunderstorms persist across the region, the NWS has warned of continuing threats of tornadoes, hail, and high winds, especially through Saturday. These ongoing weather conditions highlight the volatility of the system and the need for residents to stay vigilant in the coming days.
