The Global Cannabinoid Research Center (GCRC) of Nanobles Corporation has announced a transformative partnership with Rich Farms, a USDA-licensed agricultural entity, to launch an innovative health initiative targeting cancer prevention in high-risk populations, especially firefighters. The collaboration is part of Nanobles’ Phyto-Food Research Initiative, which aims to harness the health benefits of hemp, focusing on its potential to reduce cancer risks associated with carcinogen exposure.
The initiative was conceived by Mike Robinson, CEO of Nanobles, whose personal battle with mesenteric cancer served as the catalyst for the project. “The National Firefighters Association alerted me that many FDNY crews from 9/11 are suffering from this newer form of cancer,” said Robinson. Recognizing the urgency of addressing this issue, Robinson reached out to Tyler Larsen at Utah Farm to bring the partnership to fruition. This joint venture will focus on cultivating hemp microgreens, a nutrient-dense food source believed to have substantial health benefits, including cancer prevention.
Firefighters are particularly vulnerable to cancer due to their frequent exposure to hazardous materials and carcinogens during fire response activities. According to statistics, firefighters are 9% more likely to develop cancer and 14% more likely to die from it compared to the general population. In 2023, cancer was the leading cause of death for U.S. firefighters, accounting for 63% of the 572 memorialized individuals. This stark reality underscores the importance of the Phyto-Food Research Initiative in providing a preventive health solution.
Hemp’s nutritional profile, especially its unique proteins, is central to the research. The plant’s seeds contain Edestin, a globular protein that mirrors human blood plasma proteins, making it highly compatible with the human body. This protein aids digestion, supports immune function, and potentially mitigates the effects of carcinogen-induced damage. “Hemp is a complete food source that provides the necessary nutrients for fighting the environmental harms we encounter daily,” Robinson explained.
In addition to Edestin, hemp is a source of other high-quality proteins, such as albumin, which plays a role in scavenging free radicals and promoting overall health. Unlike soy, hemp protein is digestible and free from inhibitors that could cause discomfort. With all 20 essential amino acids, hemp protein stands out as a superior, plant-based alternative to animal proteins, making it an ideal candidate for preventive nutrition.
The Phyto-Food Research Initiative aims to conduct comprehensive studies among at-risk groups, such as firefighters, to examine the potential benefits of hemp-enriched diets. This research will involve collaboration with universities and health organizations, collecting data on how hemp may help lower cancer risks and improve overall health outcomes. Nanobles Corporation’s GCRC plans to use this data to drive evidence-based public health strategies that promote long-term disease prevention.
Beyond its cancer-fighting potential, the initiative also emphasizes the importance of gut health. By restoring gut alkalinity and improving nutrient absorption, the research seeks to enhance the body’s overall resilience against diseases. “Hemp offers a holistic approach to health, promoting not just disease prevention but also overall well-being,” added Robinson.
Nanobles Corporation is committed to advancing the role of phyto-foods in disease prevention and health optimization. Through its joint venture with Rich Farms, the Phyto-Food Research Initiative aims to set a new standard for public health, particularly for those at the front lines of danger, such as firefighters. This partnership represents a significant step toward creating a healthier and more resilient future, where plant-based foods like hemp can play a central role in promoting well-being.
Looking ahead, Robinson also noted the company’s work on developing Superior Hemp Flour and plans to raise awareness about the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) as part of the initiative’s broader mission. “We’re excited to share updates soon, as we continue growing and researching thousands of plants under USDA Farm Bill licenses to advance this crucial work,” Robinson stated.
With the growing recognition of hemp’s potential in health and wellness, the Phyto-Food Research Initiative represents a pioneering effort to not only protect firefighters but also to introduce sustainable, nutrient-dense foods into everyday diets for disease prevention. Through ongoing research and partnerships, Nanobles and Rich Farms are working to make a lasting impact on public health, particularly for those most at risk.
