Fellowships To Attend the 2025 Global Investigative Journalism Conference – Global Investigative Journalism Network

Human Rights

The Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC) is the premier international gathering of investigative and data journalists, held once every two years. In 2025, the conference will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from November 20-24, and is being co-hosted by GIJN and Malaysiakini, an independent online news outlet created in 1999 that has been recognized both locally and internationally for its contributions to the media landscape, commitment to press freedom, and in-depth reporting. The conference venue is the world-class Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

For more information and updates about GIJC25, visit our conference website.

GIJC25 will feature over 150 state-of-the-art expert panels, cutting-edge workshops, and the best networking in the business. We’ll cover online search techniques, best practices for cross-border collaboration, exiled media tips and tools, and more. We’ll be hosting top journalists who have developed innovative uses of technology to hold powers to account, and others who have worked in environments with press freedom limitations and refined techniques to continue investigating while maintaining high standards and reducing risks. There will be experts on satellites, artificial intelligence, climate change, and data journalism, among others. It will also be a unique opportunity to network and collaborate with your colleagues from over 100 countries.

With the support of our sponsors and partners, the conference is offering fellowships to journalists from the Global South, and those from historically underrepresented groups to participate in this prestigious event. Competition is keen, so you need to convince us that you will make great use of the training that GIJC25 offers.
