Spirally Viewpoint Bridge Designs : G Clef Bridge

Trends
Chinese design studio ZZHK Architecture completed the G Clef Bridge, which is a pedestrian walkway that makes its way across the Bailu River in Chengdu. It is defined by its spiraling ramp which overlooks a view that is inspired by the musical notation. The bridge brings the French-style Bailu town, which is also a tourist destination known as Bailu Music Town together with the Diamond Music Hall on the other side.

Studio founder Zhang Ke speaks about the project to Dezeen, stating “Bailu Music Town lacked a central landmark embodying its theme. We aimed to create a landmark and a spiritual fortress. Fulfilling the basic traffic function was essential, but resolving the stylistic conflict between the two banks and enhancing the musical theme of the scenic area were higher objectives. The modern, geometric Diamond Music Hall and the French-style music town create a stark contrast, posing a significant challenge, yet offering an opportunity for modern design and materials.”
