Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, an Israeli company that produces high-tech weapons and other defense and military solutions, has unveiled a highly advanced missile interceptor that is capable of thwarting the attacks of missiles that travel at five times the speed of sound.
Not only is the ‘Sky Sonic’ system capable of interception missiles flying at incredible speeds, but it is capable of doing so even when faced with erratic flight paths.
According to Yuval Steinitz, chairman over at Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the developent of the ‘Sky Sonic’ hypersonic missile interceptor was driven by a growing recognition of the threats that can be posed by these kinds of missiles, which themselves represent a big step forward in combat technology. “We are following the developments and emerging threats in the current security context and are developing the most advanced defense systems,” Steinitz stated.
