Cowboys’ new player showers QB Dak Prescott with praise

Brandin Cooks appears to be fitting in just fine so far with the Dallas Cowboys, and if his recent comments are any indication, things on the field with quarterback Dak Prescott are going well. While speaking to the media, Cooks addressed a number of topics including whether he’s lost a step and, most importantly, how things are going with Prescott.

During his media session, Cooks spoke on how impressed he’s been with Prescott, going as far as calling the Cowboys quarterback “special” while referencing great signal-callers he’s played with previously.

“I’ve been around some great ones, and we’ve been throwing, and I got to tell you, that guy can sling that ball,” Cooks said, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “He’s special.”

It’s hard to argue with the assessment of Prescott from Cooks, considering the 29-year-old receiver spent three years with Drew Brees in New Orleans and one season with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Cooks racked up 20 touchdown catches over three seasons with the Saints, while scoring seven touchdowns in his lone season with the Patriots.

As for the outlook with the Cowboys, Cooks should slide in and be the perfect option next to CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, who’s expected to be healthy in 2023 following a torn ACL that ended his 2021 season. Cooks’ ability to stretch the field and make big plays should do wonders for both Lamb and Gallup, but could potentially leave a lot of running room and plenty of space for yards after catch for running back Tony Pollard as well.
