The Venus Stargazer Spaceplane concept has been in development since 2020.
The Texas-based company unveiled its first hypersonic aircraft design capable of taking off from a conventional airport, climbing to 170,000 feet, reaching Mach 9, and crossing 5000 miles in 1 hour.
The Venus Stargazer Spaceplane measures 100 feet wide by 150 feet long, with a takeoff weight of 150,000 pounds.
Venus’ rotating detonation rocket engine (RDRE) creates 15% more thrust, therefore better range and performance allowing room for jet engines, landing gear, and more.
Co-founder Andrew Duggleby noted the design has been in the making since the company was founded, and added:
“This isn’t science fiction, this is science fact. The rendering you see took many, many cycles to achieve.”
