Tuberculosis Deaths Are Falling Worldwide

World

Tuberculosis kills more people than any other infectious disease and accounts for about 20% of adult deaths in lower-income countries. But that number is falling fast.

Vaccines have been key to this achievement – combined with early diagnosis, improved medicines, supportive social systems, and intensified research into treatments. Since 2000, these strategies have worked impressively.

So much so, that the World Health Organization believes that tuberculosis can be eradicated entirely by 2035.
