The Paris Climate Agreement is humankind’s best chance of stopping runaway climate breakdown by 2050.
This international treaty, negotiated over several years and agreed in Paris in 2015, was a feat of collaboration and diplomacy. Over 180 countries promised to plan ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions – and report regularly on their progress.
Despite the United States’ headline-grabbing plans to withdraw from the agreement, many parts of the USA – individual states, counties and cities – have pledged that they’re “still in”.
