Fans had initially thought something was wrong, leading some to call police to conduct a wellness visit to her home.
But in reality, Britney says she left because of the negativity and criticism people are constantly spewing at her on the app.
“I shut down my Instagram because there were too many people saying I looked like an idiot dancing and that I looked crazy,” she wrote on Twitter. “Honestly, I was doing my best, but it disturbed me to see people freely talk about it on TV…yep, it hurt my feelings.”
Britney added that she was also really “shocked” to then see how people responded when she deleted her account. “It really was uncalled for,” she continued. “l adore my fans but for those who did that aren’t real fans, and I honestly felt like it was a way to make me look bad!!!”
Britney insisted that she was “alive, fine, [and] healthy,” before sharing her appreciation for her “real fans” and expressing her desire to move on from the situation.
“[I’m] ready to start a new day — a new morning anew!!!” she wrote, adding, “To my real fans, God bless you 🙏🏻 !!!”
