The contemporary home brand Maison Matisse just recently launched a collection of office accessories—which is a first for the brand. The offerings were designed by Guillaume Delvigne and the creator took visual cues from a well-known Henri Matisse painting from 1950, ‘Les Mille et Une Nuits.’ Unsurprisingly the Maison Matisse x Guillaume Delvigne capsule goes by the same name.
It is not often that one comes across a collection of office accessories, inspired by great paintings. The collaborators likely do this in a bid to elevate the workplace aesthetic and experiment with what they can get away with. Guillaume Delvigne employed what has been deemed “the essence of Matisse’s painting”—namely, “the original scissor-cut shapes and bold fields of color.” He applied these style sensibilities to blocks of sliced cork which are the base of the office accessories.
