Halima Abubakar has decided to end her acting career after battling an undisclosed long-term disease.
According to 247 News, she has lupus, but it is yet to be confirmed by an official source. The site mentions that she was diagnosed on September 23, 2019, with Lymphoma Cancer (lupus), which she had been fighting since 2016.
Doctors reportedly made the diagnosis in November 2016 after Halima collapsed at her father’s funeral after a long-haul flight from the United States to Nigeria.
Unfortunately, her health has taken a toll on her and kept her out of work for over four years.
Last year, her family confirmed that the actress was sick. Likewise, her management team also announced the sad news.
After being admitted to an Abuja hospital, she took blood transfusions to beat a life-threatening complication called aplastic anemia, which made her bone marrow unable to produce new blood cells.
Taking to her social media, she appreciated her fans’ prayers and love and said she would focus on getting adequate medical attention.
“God bless you all, but she will no longer act from today. It is her wish,” the post read while reminding fans that it was a tough choice.
Ongoing Battle With Apostle Johnson
Halima Abubakar’s health condition is believed to gradually deteriorate as she gets tangled in an ongoing altercation with Apostle Johnson.
Halima recently returned to everybody’s attention after opening up about her alleged romantic relationship with the founder and senior pastor of OFM (Omega Fire Ministries), Apostle Johnson Suleman.
The actress and her family even warned Johnson that he would be held responsible if anything wrong happened to her.
Last year, rumors surfaced that the priest had extramarital affairs with several Nollywood actresses, including celebrities like Halima Abubakar, Queen Nwokoye, Shan George, and Vivian Metchie.
In July, some of them took to social media to deny the allegations. Johnson, for his part, dismissed the reports, claiming that the list was a futile attempt to bring him down.
However, Halima has come forward, confessing to the deed. She also shared screenshots of their chats and said she did it 11 years ago when the preacher lied to her about being divorced from his wife.
She also accused the cleric of backing out from his promise to marry her.
In recent developments, the actress has made more claims; he allegedly proposed to her over seven times during their relationship and even met her parents for an introduction.
She added that she had lost three pregnancies with him and bled for four years.
In response to the allegations, Johnson has sued Halima in court, calling the allegations false, malicious, defamatory, and a tool for blackmail, and suing her for N 1 billion.
