Jennifer Lopez opened up about the ’emotional transition’ of blending families with her husband Ben Affleck on Monday.
During an appearance on TODAY to promote her new film Shotgun Wedding, the 53-year-old megastar gave a glimpse into the process of combining her 14-year-old twins, Emme and Max, with Affleck’s three teenagers: Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 10.
Lopez – who also called her 50-year-old Oscar winner ‘dreamy’ and ‘a sweetheart’ – went on to declare 2022 ‘a phenomenal year’ for their A-list brood.

Sitting next to her Shotgun Wedding co-star Josh Duhamel, 50, the Jenny from the Block songstress spoke about the process of integrating five teenagers under one roof.
‘We moved in together. The kids moved in together,’ Lopez explained. ‘It’s been, like, a really kind of emotional transition, but at the same time all your dreams coming true.’
Lopez shares her twins with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, 54, while Affleck shares his three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 50.
The pair’s fairytale union was cemented six months ago when they finally tied the knot in July – nearly two decades after their first engagement ended in a tabloid feast.

‘I love Ben too though,’ said Duhamel, who then looked at Jennifer and joked: ‘I’ve probably loved him longer than you have.’
‘I bet you have,’ giggled Lopez. ‘He’s dreamy, I get it.’
An Affleck lovefest ensued, with Josh calling the Gone Girl star a ‘dreamboat’ and lauding his talent before Jennifer christened her husband with the title of ‘sweetheart.’
But the Marry Me star’s appearance on Today was hardly the first time she’s opened up about married life with Affleck.

Delicate touch: In an interview with Vogue in December, Lopez spoke about using a delicate hand when bringing their teenagers together. ‘The transition is a process that needs to be handled with so much care,’ she said. ‘They have so many feelings. They’re teens. But it’s going really well so far’
The Wedding Planner star went on to to tell Vogue: ‘What I hope to cultivate with our family is that his kids have a new ally in me and my kids have a new ally in him, someone who really loves and cares about them but can have a different perspective and help me see things that I can’t see with my kids because I’m so emotionally tied up’
In an interview with Vogue in December, Jennifer praised Ben’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner as ‘an amazing co-parent,’ sharing that Garner and Affleck ‘work really well together.’
Touching on the emotional time period of adolescence, Lopez spoke about using a delicate hand when bringing their teenagers together.
