Katharina von Schnurbein, European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, took active part in the Malmö International Forum on Holocaust Remembrance and Combating Antisemitism organised by the Swedish Government.
During the breakout session on ‘Combating antisemitism and hate speech on social media’, Katharina von Schnurbein presented the Commission’s pledge to address antisemitism online with strong legislation, a network of trusted flaggers to remove illegal hate speech and fact checkers to address conspiracy and disinformation. The Commission is determined to responsibilise platforms and prosecute online haters.
