Egyptian Red Crescent Confirms 153 Aid Trucks Entering Gaza After Ceasefire Agreement

World

Rafah, 9 October 2025 — The Egyptian Red Crescent has confirmed that 153 trucks carrying humanitarian aid are en route to Gaza, following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. The convoy marks one of the largest single-day aid deliveries since the outbreak of hostilities in 2023.

Humanitarian Lifeline

The trucks, coordinated through the Rafah border crossing, are carrying food, medical supplies, water, and fuel, aimed at alleviating the dire conditions facing Gaza’s civilian population. Aid agencies have warned of famine-like conditions, with hospitals overwhelmed and basic infrastructure on the brink of collapse.

The Egyptian Red Crescent, which has played a central role in cross-border relief efforts, stated that the convoy was mobilized “within hours” of the ceasefire announcement and is part of a broader plan to scale up humanitarian access.

Ceasefire Context

The aid delivery follows a breakthrough peace initiative brokered by the United States, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, which includes provisions for:

  • A halt to hostilities
  • The release of hostages
  • The withdrawal of Israeli forces to agreed lines
  • The unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid

The ceasefire, now in its initial phase, has been welcomed by international organizations as a critical opportunity to address the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Outlook

While the ceasefire remains fragile, the arrival of aid trucks signals a tentative shift toward relief and recovery. Humanitarian groups continue to call for sustained access, protection for aid workers, and a long-term political solution to ensure civilian safety and dignity.
