Washington, 30 September 2025 — President Donald Trump has given Hamas “three or four days” to respond to his newly unveiled peace plan for the Gaza Strip, warning of severe consequences if the group refuses to accept the proposal.
Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump said the initiative, developed in coordination with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, offers a framework for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the start of Gaza’s reconstruction. “Hamas is either going to be doing it or not, and if it’s not, it’s going to be a very sad end,” he stated.
The 20-point plan, announced earlier this week, calls for Hamas to disarm, for Israel to release Palestinian prisoners, and for the establishment of an international “Board of Peace” to oversee Gaza’s governance and redevelopment. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has been named among those expected to play a role in the oversight body.
Key regional mediators — including Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey — have urged Hamas to accept the deal, while other Arab and Muslim-majority states such as Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE have also expressed support. Hamas leaders, however, have said they need time to review the proposal and consult with other Palestinian factions.
The ultimatum comes amid a devastating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where more than 66,000 people have been reported killed since the conflict began in 2023, according to local health authorities. Israel has signaled that if Hamas rejects the plan, it will intensify its military campaign.
Whether Hamas will accept the terms remains uncertain, but with international pressure mounting and a strict deadline now in place, the coming days are expected to be decisive for the future of the conflict.
