Europe’s Message to the World at UNGA Summit: Choose Diplomacy, Not Division

At the United Nations General Assembly in New York, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to multilateralism and global cooperation, urging nations to prioritize diplomacy over division.

On Clean Energy: ⚡ The EU renewed its pledge to double global energy efficiency and triple renewable energy capacity by 2030.
⚡ Member states have agreed on a 66–72% emissions reduction target, to be submitted ahead of COP30.
⚡ Through the Global Gateway initiative, the EU will increase investment in affordable, clean energy worldwide.

On Ukraine: 🇪🇺 The EU joined the international coalition for the return of Ukrainian children displaced by war.
🇪🇺 A summit will be hosted to accelerate their safe reunification.
🇪🇺 €200 million has been committed to support school meal programmes for affected children.

On Palestine: 🔴 The EU is launching a Palestine Donor Group to coordinate aid and reconstruction efforts.
🔴 A new EU instrument will be created to help rebuild Gaza.
🔴 The EU reiterated its long-standing goal: a two-state solution as the path to lasting peace.

President von der Leyen’s address underscored Europe’s role as a global partner for peace, sustainability, and human dignity. In a time of rising geopolitical tensions, the EU’s message was clear: the time for diplomacy is now.
