Spain’s King Felipe VI issued a powerful appeal for peace in Gaza during his address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, calling for an immediate end to the violence and urging the international community to act decisively.

“We implore, we demand, stop this massacre now,” the monarch declared, condemning the ongoing conflict and its devastating toll on civilians. He described the suffering of the Palestinian people as a tragedy endured by “a people that are so wise and ancient, who have suffered so greatly throughout history.”

King Felipe expressed deep concern over the destruction of hospitals, schools, and shelters, and the widespread displacement, famine, and loss of life. “We cannot remain silent or look away,” he said, emphasizing the moral responsibility of global leaders to respond.

He concluded by reaffirming Spain’s support for a two-state solution, stating that the international community “must shoulder its responsibility to achieve as soon as possible a viable solution that would include the existence of two states.”

The speech marked one of the strongest humanitarian appeals from a European head of state at this year’s UN summit, amid growing global calls for a ceasefire and renewed diplomatic engagement.
