Tánaiste Simon Harris TD and Minister of State Neale Richmond TD have announced a €35.4 million funding package to support humanitarian and stabilisation efforts in Ukraine and neighbouring regions. The announcement was made ahead of Harris’s scheduled meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during UN High Level Week in New York.

The funding includes €23.5 million for emergency relief through UN agencies such as OCHA, UNHCR, and UNICEF, as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. An additional €2 million will support UNICEF and World Bank programmes in Moldova.

A further €9 million will be directed toward peacebuilding and institutional support in Ukraine, including initiatives led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission, and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems. Ireland will also collaborate with Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia on regional stability efforts.

€1 million has been earmarked for the World Food Programme’s school feeding initiative, providing meals to 250,000 children in frontline areas.

Tánaiste Harris described the funding as a reaffirmation of Ireland’s commitment to international law and civilian protection. Minister Richmond emphasized the importance of sustained global pressure to end Russia’s aggression and secure Ukraine’s future.
