The people of Ijesaland and their diaspora will gather in celebration on Friday, September 19, 2025, as His Royal Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, marks his 77th birthday. The event, hosted at the Muson Centre in Lagos, will be a dual celebration of heritage and progress, reflecting the monarch’s enduring commitment to cultural preservation and regional development.
Organized by The Ijesa Society, the occasion will feature the unveiling of a landmark publication, The History of Ijesa Towns and Communities: The People, Land and Heritage, and the launch of Osomaalo House—a N1 billion iconic building project symbolizing Ijesa entrepreneurial legacy in Lagos.
Born into the Ajimoko Royal Family in 1948, Owa Haastrup has distinguished himself in governance, business, and philanthropy. His tenure as Deputy Governor of Osun State was marked by impactful reforms and infrastructural growth. Since ascending the throne, he has pledged to uphold the values of unity, justice, transparency, and development across Ijesaland and in the diaspora.
As the community celebrates his life and leadership, many will also reflect on his promises to foster youth empowerment, preserve cultural identity, ensure justice and champion economic advancement. The birthday festivities serve not only as a tribute to his legacy but also as a reminder of the expectations that accompany the crown.
Happy birthday to the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland—may his reign continue to inspire progress, freedom, justice, equality and purpose.
