18 September 2025 — Tánaiste and Minister for Defence Simon Harris has confirmed the arrival of two Irish Defence Forces convoys in Poland, delivering 34 vehicles and three Reacher Robots for donation to Ukraine. The contribution forms part of Ireland’s support under the European Peace Facility.
Led by the Defence Forces Transport Corps, Operation Carousel 3 ensured the safe delivery of the equipment to the International Donor Coordination Cell in Rzeszów. The vehicles—ranging from ambulances and minibuses to Scania DROPS trucks and Ford Rangers—are being replaced under Ireland’s ongoing fleet renewal programme and will not affect operational capacity.
The Reacher Robots are earmarked for the De-mining Coalition, a Ukraine Defence Contact Group initiative co-led by Lithuania and Iceland, in which Ireland actively participates.
“This donation is a practical demonstration of Ireland’s continued commitment to Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression,” said Harris. The handover will be confirmed jointly by Irish and Ukrainian forces, with partial reimbursement to be sought via the European Peace Facility.
Ireland also contributes to the IT Coalition under the UDCG, co-led by Estonia and Luxembourg, reinforcing its role in providing non-lethal military aid to Ukraine.
