DUBLIN — Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, has confirmed that advance payments under the Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) scheme have commenced, with €183.2 million issued to 86,985 farmers across Ireland.

The payments represent an 85% advance under the ANC scheme, in line with the Farmers’ Charter and previous years’ arrangements. The remaining 15% balance is scheduled for release in early December.

Minister Heydon emphasized the importance of timely support for farm families, stating that payments will begin appearing in bank accounts in the coming days. He also noted that the Department is prioritizing the processing of outstanding applications and urged farmers to submit any required documentation promptly.

The Department is also preparing to issue 70% advance payments under the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complementary Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS) from 16 October, followed by Eco-scheme payments from 23 October.

County-level data shows Galway, Mayo, and Cork among the top recipients, with Galway farmers receiving over €20.3 million. Regular payment runs will continue to ensure all eligible applicants are supported. Staff from the ANC Section are available at the National Ploughing Championships to assist with queries.
